Gail Patricia Greene, 76, enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay

Gail Patricia Greene, 76, a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away unexpectedly at home Friday, March 10, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Francis and Janice Palmer.

Gail was a graduate of the College of William & Mary and earned her J.D. from Western New England University School of Law.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, U.S. Navy Cmdr. William W.B. ‘Bill’ Greene. Gail and Bill were married after his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy and before he was deployed to Vietnam.

The couple later settled in Virginia Beach and spent their leisure time with friends, family, their beloved sheepdog, Andy Pandy, and sailing the Chesapeake Bay on their sailboat, White Works Bravo. Gail was also an intrepid traveler of the high seas and went on multiple around-the-world cruises later in life.

She is survived by her two sisters, Janice Palmer and Susan (Ross) Tippin; and brother, Richard (Pamela) Palmer.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 22, with a funeral service to follow at noon at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach.
