SUV crashes into body of water in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH — A SUV ended up fully submerged in a body of water after a crash Friday afternoon, police said.

Shortly before 2 p.m., dispatch was informed of a Chevrolet Tahoe that entered the water near in the intersection of Shell Road and Downs Lane. Police say the car entered the water after driving off a curved portion of the road.

The two males inside the vehicle were able to get out of it uninjured but are being evaluated for possible hypothermia at a local hospital, police said.

The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Marine Patrol Dive Team is attempting to retrieve the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
