Bruce William Gronemann, 74, retired from the Navy after 20 years’ service

Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Bruce William Gronemann, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

He was the son of the late William and Frances Gronemann, and was also preceded in death by his wives, Stephanie Smith Gronemann and Donna O’Brien Gronemann.

Bruce was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduating from the University of Dayton, he joined the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1987 after 20 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda C. Gronemann; sister, Robyn Harris; daughter, Caroline Ternes (Tom); son, John Gronemann (Christine); grandchildren, Nate, Sarah, and Sophia Ternes and Ava Gronemann; niece, Alexandra Ritter (Cliff); great-niece, Madeline Ritter; and his faithful canine companion, Addie.

The family would like to thank Dr. Radkar and her team at Virginia Oncology, Laurie, Sentara Home Health, Kathryn and Gracie from Intrepid Hospice for their care and compassion.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
