Kristina J. Aguilar, 36, went home with our Lord Monday, March 6, 2017.

She was a member of St. Mathew’s Catholic Church. Kristina graduated with honors from Tallwood High School in 1998. She attended and graduated at Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a Bachelor of Science major in Speech Pathology.

Kristina loved to sing and play the piano. She was a member of Tallwood High Madrigals and ODU Choir. She traveled with the choir to sing at various venues highlighting the group’s singing in New York City Carnegie Hall. She loved going to musicals, especially Wicked, which was her favorite. Krissy and her mom used to go to a lot of the musicals together. She loved her family and her family loves her as well, and she will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Steven Slider; daughter, Eleonore Elizabeth Aguilar-Slider of Virginia Beach, Va.; loving parents, Jonathan D. Aguilar Sr. and Estrella (Lilly) G. Aguilar of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Jonathan D. Aguilar Jr., and his fiancée, Lashonda Salter, of Virginia Beach, Va.; mother-in-law, Jeanine Slider; brother-in-law, John Slider; grandmother, Fermina Gumayagay of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandfather, Napoleon G. Aguilar Sr. of Baguio City, Philippines; maternal uncles, aunties and cousins and spouses from both sides of the family in the U.S. and the Philippines; Charito and Buddy Rodriguez, sons, Richard, and his wife, Maria Teresa, Dennis, Cynthia, and her husband, Bong, Christopher, and his wife, Jocelyn, and John Paul; Adelaida Aguilar, daughters Monica, Michelle and her husband, Justin, and Melanie; Noel Aguilar; Fely Gumayagay, son, Eric, daughter, Eileen, and her husband, Elijah; Jean and Nico Carpio, sons, Jericho, Andy, and his wife, Brenda; Wilma and Matt Salvador, sons Michael, and his wife, Helene and Jimmy; Femia and Pedro Morazo, and son Chris; Leonard and Susan Gumayagay, and sons Paul, and his wife, Rosalyn, and Leonardo, and his wife, Rochelle, and daughter, Abby and her fiancé, Hunter. Kristina is adored by her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 13, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of the resurrection will be held at noon Tuesday, March 14, with Father John Abe officiating at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church, 3314 Sandra Lane, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park in Virginia Beach.
