Lucy Kiker Jones, 95, active member of Galilee Episcopal Church

Lucy Kiker Jones, 95, was born in Reidsville, N.C., Feb. 28, 1921, and died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. She was the third daughter of Blannie Berry Kiker and William Black Kiker.

She was educated in Reidsville schools and graduated from Sweet Briar College.

She was a former member of the Virginia Beach Garden Club and an active member of Galilee Episcopal Church, where she served as president of the Women, a founding member of the flower guild and Galilee Gifts and Books. She served on the Columbarium Committee, Grounds Committee, Funeral Committee, Prayer Chain and many other committees through the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Charles Jones; and daughters, Patricia Jones Hackett, Melissa Ellen Jones and Cynthia Jones Katz; and sister, Marion Kiker Lane.

She is survived by her grandson, Harvey Mundy Hackett IV, and his wife, Suzie; great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Hackett; sister, Kathryn Kiker Harris of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; as well as many greatly loved nieces and nephews.

She was blessed with a wonderful family and many friends who she cherished.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Galilee Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kathleen Bobbitt will be officiating.
