WAKEFIELD – After the second-warmest record February on record, snow is back in the forecast according to the National Weather Service.

With the current forecast model, there’s a 70 percent chance of snow this weekend, though meteorologist Mike Rusnak said it was still too early to say how much snow may fall.

A western cold front heading for the region could bring snow along with it starting as early as Saturday night. Overnight, Rusnak said the flurries would likely turn into a mix of sleet and rain, ending around noon on Sunday.

High temperatures on Sunday will be in the low to mid-40s, which will likely melt any accumulated snow on the ground, Rusnak said.
