Esther Loraine Huie, 77, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 27, 2017. Born and raised in Virginia Beach to the late Paul and Florah Hubbard, Esther retired from Stihl Inc.

As a faithful church member, she was always giving and helping others. She loved her church family at Azalea Garden Church of God, where she supervised the food pantry that provided for many families. She was a beautiful, spiritual, role model to her family and friends.

A loving wife, mother, grandma, great-granny, and aunt, she is survived by her husband, Richard D. Huie; sister, Joyce Brogan; brother, Cornell Hubbard; children, Janet, and her husband, Mike Kreider, Kenneth Laverne, and his wife, Ann Simmons; stepdaughter, Karen, and her husband, David Drake; grandchildren, Adam and Brian Simmons, Michael, Matthew and Meagan Kreider, and Rachel and Kyndle Resh; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Brynn, Camden, Calvin, Jericho, Levi and Colten (soon to arrive, Emma); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Azalea Garden Church of God, 1541 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the church with the Rev. Dr. Rodney Vickers and the Rev. Rick Hocker officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther’s name may be sent to the Azalea Garden Food Pantry, 1541 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
