On Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9) Rogelio ‘Lolo’ Santos passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. His journey was one of love, courage and sacrifice, as he touched so many lives.

Although his career in the U.S. Navy involved 30 years of honorable service, he also spent close to 20 years as a teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. His life was centered on helping others to find the best in themselves.

Dad leaves behind his wonderful wife, Brenda, who stood by him through all of the joys and challenges life brought them. His first wife, Paddy Santos, and his first son, Daniel A. Santos, preceded him in death. He also leaves behind four sons, three daughters, 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.

For all of those who were fortunate enough to meet our Dad, you already know his capacity for loving and helping others. There are no words that can adequately describe how much joy our Dad has created in our lives and so many others. His humor, laughter and mischievous nature will be missed by all.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Saint Gregory’s Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, our Dad requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
