A house on Chippewa Road in Virginia Beach caught fire Friday afternoon, displacing a family of three.
No people were injured, though two dogs died, according to a Virginia Beach Fire Department news release.
Neighbors reported the fire at around noon. The residents were not home when the fire began, according to the release.
Firefighters arrived on scene at 12:06 p.m. and saw heavy smoke spilling from the front and right side of the house, according to the release.
The blaze was under control by 12:19 p.m. and put out about 20 minutes after that.
The fire left extensive damage to the house. The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
