Zotico Apurillo Tolete, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at home in Virginia Beach. He was 86 years old.

Born April 20, 1930, in Cebu, Philippines, Zotico was a Philippine diplomat serving his country in Washington D.C. and Ottawa, Canada from 1966 to 1984. He was later appointed Regional Trial Court Judge in Malolos, Bulacan in the Philippines until his retirement in 1992. Prior to arriving in the United States, he was a practicing attorney in his adoptive hometown of Tacloban City, Leyte.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at noon at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Hyattsville, Md. His cremated remains will be interred at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, Md. at 1:30 p.m.

Zotico Tolete is survived by his children, Guy, Joy (Joseph) Camacho, Rey (Anna May), Dean (Jeannette), Queenie (David) Renner and Honey (Charles) Goldfarb; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded by his wife of 55 years, Nieves Alvarado in January 2010.
