A man will spend 15 years in prison for robbing a Virginia Beach Quick Mart with an airsoft gun, officials say.

Michael Shawn Weaver, 38, of the 3800 block of Roads View Road, was sentenced Monday to 30 years in prison with 15 years suspended by Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judge Steven C. Frucci.

The decision came more than four months after Weaver pleaded guilty to robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of abduction, according to a news release from the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.

Officials say Weaver was armed with an airsoft gun when he robbed the convenience store, located at 1091 Norfolk Ave., on May 1, 2016. He forced two customers to the ground and stole cash from the store’s register.

Police arrested Weaver on May 2, 2016 after a Hilton employee saw his picture in the news and recognized him as a guest of the hotel. A male employee of 17th Street Surf Shop also told police Weaver came into the store to change clothes and asked for his old clothes to be thrown away.
