Steve Kremers, 64, inspirational teacher who encouraged environmental respect

Steve Kremers, 64, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.

He was an inspirational teacher and mentor for 40 years; his career included teaching earth science and oceanography at F.W. Cox High School, Tallwood High School and Lake Taylor middle and high schools.

He is the beloved father of Jaye Carroll (Tim) and Ross Kremers (Lisa) and the proud grandfather of Evelyn Carroll. Steve is also survived by his brother, Walter Kremers (Hilal); sister, Barbara Gallagher (Tom); special sister-in-law, Tina Troha; siblings in-law, Cindy Domaska, Darreen Hudson, Lori Domaska, Mike Domaska (Sue); and his nieces and nephews, Ece, Mete, Kelly, Kaylin, Jamie, Michael, Ashley, Amber, Jon and Alan.

The family wishes to thank the many friends, neighbors and colleagues who have loved us so well during Steve’s illness. We are also extremely grateful to the nurse and hospice care teams, Sue and Angie (Michigan) and Katherine and Brittany (Virginia).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 1969 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach. Another memorial will be held Saturday, July 8, in Michigan near the shores of Steve’s beloved Lake Michigan.

Steve encouraged respect and love for our environment. His family will continue Steve’s commitment to his students and our earth through a scholarship in his name.
