Norman Prince, 83, social worker who promoted equal rights

Norman Prince, 83, died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. He was the son of the late Nathan and Anna Prince and was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Prince.

He was born in Massachusetts and graduated from Boston University and Washington University, where he received his Master of Social Work. He worked in the social work field for 12 years. Norman also walked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Alabama in 1966 because he believed in equal rights for all.

He retired from his deli, Mike’s Colley Deli, after 20 years and then retired again after 11 years of service at “The Dump.”

Norman is survived by three children; Michael Prince, and his wife, Helen, Rachel True, and her husband, Steven (deceased), and Daniel Prince, and his wife, Bethany; five grandchildren, Benjamin and Nathan True and Nathan, Ethan and Elianna Prince; brother, Dr. Alan Prince, and his wife, Debbie, and a sister-in-law, Julie, and her husband Leonard Frankel.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
