Russell Lee Bell, 88, touched many lives with his kind and compassionate spirit

Russell Lee Bell, departed this life peacefully on Nov. 24, 2016. He was a native of the Creeds section of Virginia Beach and a retired U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of New Weeping Mary Baptist Church until illness prevented his attendance. Russell was the widower of Ruth S. Bell. He was privileged to have retired from both civil service and from the Virginia Beach School System after several years of dedicated service.

During his 88 years, Russell touched many lives, his kind and compassionate spirit will be missed by a host of loving relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Walton Funeral Home and from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at New Weeping Mary Baptist Church, 1104 Fentress Road, Chesapeake. In celebration of his life, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery.
