A special election will be held to fill Scott Taylor’s open seat in the House of Delegates.

A special election for an open seat in the Virginia House of Delegates will be held on Jan. 10, 2017. The election will select a candidate to fill the empty seat held formerly held by Scott Taylor, now congressmen-elect for Virginia’s 2nd District.

On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Terry McAuliffe signed a writ of special election after Taylor won the November election and submitted his resignation to the General Assembly.

Gov. McAuliffe also signed writs for two vacant Virginia Senate seats, in districts 9 and 22.
