Virgilio “Gil” Sambrano Carranza

Virgilio “Gil” Sambrano Carranza, 91, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 22, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife, Natividad Carranza; his six children, Roland, and his wife, Robin, Romel, Rhene, and his wife, Terry, Rossanne, and her husband, Alvis, Redem, and his wife, Agnes, and Enrique; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Van Carranza and Rosita Cruz.

Gil was born on November 27, 1924, in Bolinao, Philippines. He came to the U.S. in 1972 after the passing of his first wife, Magdalena Carranza. He was a real estate agent and worked for Acacia Insurance Co. He had a great sense of humor that we will all truly miss.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel on Monday, Nov. 28, and Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
