Jay C. Roberts, 82, of Virginia Beach, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Nov. 28.
A native of Steeles, W.Va., he was the son of the late John C. and Annie Roberts.
He was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, studying the word of God and caring for his beloved dog, Hoku. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was stationed overseas as well as on the East Coast.
He was preceded in passing by his precious wife, Kitty; daughter, Paula Allen; and grandson, John T. Boulden.
He leaves behind his daughters, Pam Johnson of Montana, Sandra Lindquist and husband, Craig, of Lusby, Md., Deb Gildersleeve, and husband, Jake, of Virginia Beach, Va., Nikki Bradley of Chesapeake, Va.; and 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Earl Sutton. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
