Norman P. Powers Sr., 91, passed away on Nov. 25, 2016. We said goodbye to our beloved father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Marjorie, after 68 years in marriage; his son, Robert, three brothers and his sister. He is survived by his son, Preston and wife Deborah; daughter, Cindy and husband Woody; daughter-in-law, Toni; along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He served in the army during WWII, graduated from the College of William & Mary, retired from IBM and was a devoted member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church. Norman had a great love and belief in God, family, giving back to others and his love of sailing.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Forest Lawn Cemetery to be followed with U.S. Army rendering of military honors. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
