Raymond James was called home on Nov. 18, 2016. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he served in the male choir. He also was a former member of the new Mount Olive Baptist Church in Chesapeake.

He graduated from Crestwood High School class of 1966 and retired from Valley Food Services Norfolk as a customer service manager after 44 years of service. Raymond enjoyed gardening, cooking, artwork and helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Knox James; his adopted son, Shaun Knox; his sisters, Mable B. Speller and Dorothy Gray; two brothers Clifton James Sr. and Albert E. James; and a host of relatives and friends. His family would like to specially thank Gary Knox, Carolyn Jarmon and Pat Knox.

A Homegoing service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Union Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, at 12:30 p.m. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services.
