Lucy K. Carlson, 74, went into the arms of her savior on Nov. 16, 2016.
She was born in Wilmington, N.C., to her beloved mother, Dorothy N. Kerr and father, Herman L. Kerr. They later divorced and Dorothy married James E. Sawyer, who became Lucy’s beloved stepfather. Her beloved grandmother, Dora P. Newby helped raise her.
Lucy retired in 1997 from CINCLANTFLT as a Budget Analyst. She graduated from Norview High School class of 1960 and attended her 50th class reunion in 2010 where she enjoyed getting reacquainted with her classmates.
Left to miss her are her much-loved friends, Sandy Burrell, Debbie Curry, Sarah Cornelius, Brenda Hampson, Debbie Fulgham, Robin Bolick, Marcy Myler, Charmaine Miller, Lee Balance and Chef Tom.
Lucy was very grateful to Dr. Leslie Oppleman and Dr. Zhao who provided her with such excellent care.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Littleton, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
