Ellen Drury Whitehurst, 58, of Virginia Beach, died in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, from heart failure.
Ellen was born February 10, 1958, in East Orange, N.J., to Bob and Sylvia Drury. She is survived by her son, Grayson Madison Whitehurst; her two brothers, Robert and David; and a world of friends and admirers whom she helped to harness the energy of the universe.
Ellen was a resident of Virginia Beach for 16 years. Ellen graduated from Fairfield University and had a long, successful career on Wall Street before becoming a renowned author, teacher and healer specializing in holistic lifestyles.
Above all else, Ellen was a loving, caring, selfless, and a determined mother devoted to her son, Grayson, who in turn wanted nothing more but to make her proud. Ellen was a pillar of her community whose outreach to the needy served as a role model to countless individuals who looked to her for wisdom, guidance and leadership.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.
