Lillian Gladys Rumley, 98, died Nov. 14, 2016. She was born in Currituck County, N.C., to the late Emmett and Mary Evans.
Mrs. Rumley also was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert William Rumley; her son, Robert William Rumley Jr.; one grandchild, Michael Collins; one great-grandchild, Sean Lee Sands; and Arnold and Ethel Morresette, who lovingly cared for her.
She was a lifelong member of Nimmo United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty J. Carpenter, and husband, William, Jane Etheridge, and husband, Bennie, and Jeannette Collins, and husband, Chuck, all of Virginia Beach; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchilden; and a niece and nephew. Gladys’ relatives and friends will always remember the sweet smile and kind words she shared with everyone she met.
We wish to thank the staff at Windermere and express our appreciation for their care of our mother.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
