Emma A. Tabron, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 9, 2016, surrounded by her children. She was born March 5, 1924, to the late William and Georgia Ashby in Princess Anne County, Va. She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus Tabron Sr., and granddaughter, Alicia.

Emma was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary and on the Usher Board. She retired from Holiday Inn Executive Center after 23 years of service. Emma enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially with her flowers.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Claudia Fitzgerald (Alphonso), Barbara Tabron and Emma Fortune (Bernard); four sons, Rufus Jr. (Pat), Robert, Lafayette and Alonzo Tabron (Linda); three sisters; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church 5549 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Beach Funeral Services, Virginia Beach.
