Donald Eugene Gray Sr., 81, of Virginia Beach, was peacefully called home on Nov. 6, 2016, at his residence.
He was born on May 26, 1935, in Maynor, W. Va., to the late Hubert and Dorothy Gray. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Shelva Jean Gray of 52 years; and brothers, Jerry and Edward.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was a Longshoreman for 20 years. Upon his retirement, he was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve Branch 99 and ILA 920. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and bowling.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sherry Rumpf (Carey); sons, Blane Gray (Linda), Donald Gray Jr. (Vickie); grandchildren, Kara Figueroa (Carlos), Tyler Gray, Bradley Rumpf, Mitchell Rumpf; great-grandchildren, Andre Figueroa, Jade Figueroa; sister, Annabelle Smith (John); and brother, Forrest Gray (Karen).

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Colonial Grove Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
