Anthony S. Genovese, 90, flew 19 missions during World War II

Anthony S. Genovese, 90, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on Nov. 11, 2016.

He was born Nov, 13, 1925, New York City. After graduating high school in New York, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served during World War II flying 19 missions in a B17.

He developed commercial and residential real estate in both New York and Hampton Roads. Anthony’s hobbies included photography, flying airplanes, spending time with his friends at the Cavalier Country Club and traveling, but most of all, his biggest joy was spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Rita; his children, Linda Mohammadi (Serse), Lennard Genovese, Denise Bashara (Brian) and Stephanie Somers (John); and his grandchildren, Ramin, Aram, Keivan, Holly, Brian, Lawrence, Cristina, Vincent, Conor, Aedan, Flynn and Jillian.

The family will accept friends on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 7-8 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel in Virginia Beach, for a prayer service. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice.
