Richard “Dick” or “Fay” Davis, 92, passed away on Nov. 6, 2016.

Born in Currituck, N.C., he was the son of the late William and Julia Davis. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Dick enlisted at the age of 17 with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He had many jobs over the years, but his favorite was that of an independent truck driver. He saw many interesting places and met many interesting people, often with his beloved bride in the cab beside him. Richard was an active member of the Windsor Oak Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness and was a National Legend in the Virginia Beach Shagger’s Hall of Fame. His favorite pastime was growing a yearly vegetable garden in his backyard, and he was known for his delicious tomatoes.

Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 56 years, Amelia D. Davis; daughters, Denise Davis Lawson and her husband, Jeff, Theresa Davis Powell and her husband, Scott, and Dana Amelia Davis and her partner, Kristy Flynn; grandchildren, Zac Powell, Reid Lawson, Harlie Powell, Rhianna Lawson, and Riley Lawson; a sister, Dorothy Grandy, as well as many sister and brothers- in-law, nieces, and nephews.
