Kathryn (Katie) Ann Schemering passed away suddenly on Nov. 2, 2016 in her home in Virginia Beach.

She was the beloved daughter of Vera Rivers Schemering (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Michael Edward Schemering (Williamsburg, Va.). She is also survived by her brother, Patrick Michael Schemering of Reston, Va., numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and their spouses and children. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Thomas DeWitt, Jr. and Reba Seal Rivers of Charlottesville, Va. and her paternal grandparents Crien Herman Schemering and Margaret Heneghan Schemering of Arlington, Va.

Born on March 12, 1984, Katie was a graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in environmental studies. She was passionate about the conservation and preservation of our planet and cared for all animals. Katie was also an avid equestrian and enjoyed spending time riding and volunteering at the EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12 at King of Glory Church, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, Va. at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following.
