Pictures: Green Run students collect coins for Virginia Beach’s displaced families

Green Run Elementary School students may be little, but they have big hearts.

On Monday, the students began collecting coins for 48 of their classmates whose families were uprooted during Hurricane Matthew. The goal is to collect $500 by Friday, which will be used to buy gift cards for the families.

The coin drive is part of the school’s ongoing effort to assist the 35 Green Run Elementary School families who were displaced from the Waypoint at Lynnhaven apartment complex and are now living in hotels. Read the full story here.
