Even with graduation season more than six months away, it’s time for eighth-graders in Virginia Beach to get ready to take the next step.
That’s why the Virginia Beach Convention Center buzzed Wednesday evening with hundreds of eighth-graders, several 3D printers and nearly a dozen interactive displays, including a solar-powered car, a mock crime scene, microscopes, stethoscopes and even a sheep’s heart.
It was all part of an informational meet-and-greet, sponsored by Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
Billed as the Academy Programs and Advanced Academic Programs Citywide Information Night, the event gave eighth-graders and their families a chance to ponder next year’s academic options, from science and math to legal studies and culinary arts.
