Updated: Flooding causes more than 150 road closings in Virginia Beach

Update: The city updated its alphabetical list of road closings, which lists more than 150 locations and is available here.

“Many roads are impassable and conditions are dangerous,” the city said in a release, issued Sunday at 3:00 p.m. “Police are urging residents and visitors to stay off the roads.”

High water and flooding have closed more than 40 roads in Virginia Beach and the city is urging residents not to drive.

“It is extremely dangerous,” the city tweeted early Sunday. “Stay off roads.”

A list of closed roads, posted by the city on Facebook late Saturday includes:

  • Rosemont Road South Bow Creek Boulevard – Flooded
  • Bow Creek Boulevard/Country Club Road – High water, not passable
  • Princess Anne Road/Kempshire Lane – Flooded
  • Silina Drive/South Boulevard – High water signs
  • Edinburgh Drive/Lynn Shores Drive – High water
  • London Bridge Road/264 – High water
  • Princess Anne Road/Holland Road – High water
  • London Bridge Road/Brush Creek Lane – High water
  • Holland Road/Princess Anne Road – High water
  • Haygood Road/Aragona Boulevard – High water
  • Witchduck Road/Virginia Beach Boulevard – High water
  • Sullivan Boulevard/Newtown Road – High water
  • Independence Boulevard/Jericho Road – Flooded, high water
  • Oceana Boulevard North/Virginia Beach Boulevard – Flooding
  • Cleveland Street/Aragona Boulevard – High water

  • Dam Neck Road/Drakesmile Road – Flooded
  • 4700 Block of Post Oak Road – Clogged manhole drain flooding
  • 4700 Block of Rugby Road – High water in the area
  • De Laura Lane/Baker Road – Impassable roads
  • 1500 Block Dam Neck Road – Road closed
  • 1000 Block of Rolling Point Court – High water
