A teenager is in stable condition after he was stabbed in Virginia Beach, police say.

First responders found the boy, who they believe is between 14 and 17 years old, around 9:10 p.m. Thursday, suffering from multiple stab wounds in the 700 block of Alder Circle. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a Virginia Beach Police Department news release.

Police believe the victim may have been involved in a crime at the time of the stabbing, said Master Police Officer Tonya Pierce.

The case is being investigated by the police department’s homicide unit.
