John Hudgins Sr.

John “Jack” R. Hudgins Sr. went home to Jesus on Sept. 29, 2016.

Born Nov. 16, 1938, he was an Ocean View native of Norfolk, Va. He attended Granby High. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. A beloved father, grandfather, and uncle, he was lovingly known as “Pop.”

He was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Betty C. Hudgins; son, John R. Hudgins Jr.; and his parents, Merriman and Sallie Cake Hudgins.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Huston (Dee); twin brother, Jim Sr. (Barbara); daughter, Zena (Bill); son, Bob (Virginia); grandchildren, Jeff, Wanda, Michael, Elana (Marilee), Cori (Richard), Jordan, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Casey, Makenzie, Seth, Austin, and Mickey Jr.. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at 1 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 3301 Thomas St., Norfolk.
