Woodrow Wilson Wood, 80, went to be with our Lord and Savior Sept. 25, 2016.
Woody was born, Dec. 2, 1935, on the Island of Roatan, Honduras. He was the son of the late Sturdee Wood and Haidee E. McNab. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine McNab and daughter, Lana May; and second wife, Juanita Evans.
He was blessed with Juanita’s three children, Theresa, George and Danny whom he had known and loved most of their lives. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and once again blessed with her children, Misty (Michael) Jennifer, and Justin; sisters, Ruth Hyde (Jimmy), and Clara Jones. He also leaves behind a host of special nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
Woodie was the owner of Central Appliance Service. This business allowed him to fulfill one of his greatest passions, helping people. Woodie was a devoted Christian and used the many house calls made in the business to be a witness for the Lord and “plant the seed of God’s word”. He was a passionate member of the Gideons, a longtime member and Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of their Seaman’s Ministry. He brought joy and love to all who knew him. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
A visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home on George Washington Highway. A funeral service will be held at Snellings Funeral Home, Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Gideons International.
