Mabel V. Durand, 81 , passed away on Sept. 19, 2016 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1935 to the late Maurice and Minnie Ledoux in Sanford, Maine. Richard R. Durand, her husband of 49 years, preceded her in death.

Durand worked for many different assembly-line companies during her career, including General Electric Corp. and General Foam Plastics to name a few. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, making blankets for all of her family. She loved to dance, play bingo and spend time surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her easy and genuine smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children Daniel R. Durand and his wife Elizabeth of Garner, N.C; Lucille B. Caughorn and her husband Kenneth of Virginia Beach; and Virginia E. Durand-Sari of Norfolk; six grandchildren, Vanessa Zitzmann and her husband John, Nick Caughorn and his wife Lauren, Tiffany Durand, Daniel Durand Jr., Austin Caughorn, and Marcela Durand-Sari; four great-grandchildren, Luke Zitzmann, Alex Culhane, Scott Zitzmann, and Brody Caughorn; a brother, Perley Ledoux and his partner Denise of New Hampshire.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, Va. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.
