Angel Manuel Echevarria Rivera, 60, of Suffolk, Va. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 20, 2016, after a long battle with liver disease.
Born in Salinas, Puerto Rico to Augustina and Eliseo, he was a man of many trades with a passion for cooking, fishing, entertaining family and friends.
He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather and friend and worked hard even when his body was too weak to manage. He often would gather strength to serenade his wife with a song of joy before going to work to provide for her. No matter how ill he was, he always wore a smile that would light up a room which endured until his last days. He was very stubborn as well, as the nurses and doctors can attest. Nevertheless, he always had a way of winning people over with his charm.
Angel is survived by his wife of more than 20 years, Josefina Pacheco; three sons, Chris, Angel, Manuel; one stepson, Ritz; three stepdaughters, Madga, Doris and Ramonita; nine siblings, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Thank you to all the wonderful nurses and doctors from Obici Hospital and Hospice who assisted in his care.
A private memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services for his close friends and family. He was loved and will be missed by many.
