Merle B. Pollok, 93, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. She was born in Boykins, Va., to the late Rev. and Mrs. Leonard R. Black and was married for more than 50 years to the late Berkeley A. Pollok Jr.
She was a member of the Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her son, William R. Pollok; her daughter, Shirley P. Wood; two granddaughters, Allison Witherow and her husband, Kevin, of Laurel, Md. and Laura Christian and her husband, Tim, of Darien, Conn.; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Anna, Liam and Lilly. She also leaves behind her cherished friend, Betty Jane Shaw and her “adopted daughter,” Susanne D. Demma.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in Forest Lawn Cemetery Rev. John Monroe will be officiating and Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home on Tidewater Drive will be handling the arrangements.
