Josephine “Pina” Minervini, 75, Italian Immigrant found home in Virginia Beach

Josephine “Pina” Minervini, 75, passed away Aug. 30, 2016 at Princess Anne Sentara Hospital.

She was born on May 5, 1941 in Molfetta, Italy to the late Saverio DeCandia and Rosa Bellifemine DeCandia. She immigrated to Hoboken, N.J. in 1965 after marrying Mario Minervini on May 4, 1963. She also lived in Union City and Wood-Ridge, N.J. In 1992, she and her husband retired in Virginia Beach, their favorite vacation spot, where they embraced the Italian-American community, took advantage of the local culture and arts, and made wonderful friends.

Survivors include her husband, Mario Minervini, her son Vincent Minervini, her daughter Theresa (Teri) Ricci, her son-in-law Christopher Ricci, her granddaughter Elizabeth Grace Ricci, and her grandson Andrew James Ricci.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church by the Rev. Robert J. Cole. The burial will follow at Princess Anne Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Rd., from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
