Beverly Whitehurst Macon, 89, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016. She was born at Norfolk General Hospital on Sept. 15, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Grayson and Myrtle Whitehurst Sr.

She went to Larchmont Elementary School, Blair Junior High School and St. Anne’s School for Girls in Charlottesville. She attended Maryland College for Women for two years and the Richmond Professional Institute in Richmond for two years. At the age of 24, she married Dr. T. Roy Jarrett Jr. and had two children, Dr. T. Roy Jarrett III and Anne Robin Pearce. Besides her children and her former husband, she is also survived by two granddaughters, Danielle and Olivia Pearce; a daughter-in-law, Michelle D. Jarrett and her son, Tristian G. Jimenez; as well as a large extended family whom she loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Brock K. Mason Sr., and her brother, Grayson M. Whitehurst Jr.

Throughout her life she was involved in various activities. She was a volunteer at Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was a member of the Cavalier Garden Club, Galilee Episcopal Church and its Bible study, the Princess Anne Country Club and the Cavalier Yacht Club.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seniorcorp, Grace Hospice and Dr. John Patterson for their support during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends beginning at noon Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the Princess Anne Country Club.
