Green Flash Brewing Co. announced Tuesday it will celebrate the grand opening of its Virginia Beach facility on Nov. 13.
The brewery, at 1902 General Booth Blvd., was originally set to complete construction by the end of March, but that date was pushed back earlier this year due to construction delays. Now the company is poised to open the 58,000 square-foot facility this fall.
“We are so excited to be a part of the amazing Virginia Beach community as we plan to officially celebrate our opening in November,” Mike Hinkley, co-founder and CEO of Green Flash, said in a release. “The new brewery will allow us to offer East Coast consumers fresh Green Flash beers at West Coast pricing starting January 1st 2017.”
The company is headquartered in San Diego.
The Virginia Beach site was modeled after the West Coast location, and includes a tasting room with up to 30 beers on tap, a beer garden, food trucks, retail store, private-event room and garden. The company will host its 3rd annual Treasure Chest Fest Nov. 12. The event is $45 to $55 and will raise money for the Tidewater affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the breast-cancer charity organization. The tickets include food and beer pairings and a commemorative glass.
The ultimate production capacity of the brewery will be 100,000 annual barrels, according to a release. After the opening, the brewery will fulfill orders on the East Coast. Green Flash is hiring for the brewery and the tasting room, and, when fully staffed, expects to employ roughly 40 local residents, the release said. Job openings can be found here.
