Alta A. Andrews, 79, of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away on Aug. 5, 2016, at her home.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Johnnie M. Maples. She was preceded in death by her son, David Andrews; her friend and partner, Gery Putnam; and her best friend and ex-husband, Bobbie Andrews.

Alta retired as a treasurer with the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Barbara Marie Andrews of Virginia Beach, Va.; son, Bobby R. Andrews Jr. (Debbie) of Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren, Bobby Andrews III, Michael Andrews, Charles Andrews, Christopher Andrews, Stephen Andrews, Ashley Cuellar, and Alex Andrews; and nine great-grandchildren, Angelique, Kingston, Samantha, Jackson, Liam, Ellie, Henry, Cora and Evie Andrews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Westminster Canterbury Chapel, led by the Rev. Jenny Spivey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hoy Hospice Center at Westminster Canterbury, 3100 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
