Alice Frances Biers, 89, of Virginia Beach, Va., died peacefully on Aug. 3, 2016, with her family by her side.
She was born in Bloomfield, N.J., the daughter of William and Irene VanGilder Coover. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W. Biers.
Mrs. Biers was an original member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, Va., and was a former member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Alice F. Baker (Floyd) of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Marie I. Potter (Mike) of Virginia Beach, Va., Eileen B. Sanders (Chet) of South Glens Falls, N.Y., Christine B. Wallace (Randy) of Virginia Beach, Va., Kathleen B. Doxey (Cliff) of Suffolk, Va., and Lynn B. Meise of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchilden.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, Va. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Robert J. Cole officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Hall Fund or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
