Barbara Patterson Pyle, 88, formerly of Norfolk, Va., died Aug. 1, 2016, in Richmond, Va.
A native of Lynchburg, Va., she spent some 70 years in Norfolk, where she graduated from Maury High School and attended two years at Old Dominion College, then the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary.
Barbara had a long career in the travel industry, last owning and operating BP Tours in Norfolk. She was well known for organizing and leading many motor coach tours.
She was a longtime member of Freemason Street Baptist Church until she moved to the Masonic Home of Virginia in 2013.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Pyle Sr., and her parents, Lucille and David M. Patterson of Lynchburg, Va.
She is survived by two sons, Robert H. Pyle Jr. of Stephens City, Va., and David M. Pyle (Carol) of Suffolk, Va.; four grandchildren, Amanda Ott of Lake Nona, Fla., Justin Pyle of Suffolk, Va., Cameron Hartman of Potomac Falls, Va. and Gareth Pyle of Stephens City, Va.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Va. A graveside service, with Dr. Dan Kerley presiding, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
