James Leroy Davis Sr., 70, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Aug. 2, 2016, peacefully at his home.
Born July 1, 1946, Jimmy was a loyal man who served his country in Pusan, Korea, for 2 years and during the Vietnam conflict. He spent 42 years as a loyal and dedicated employee of Atlantic Dominion Distributors. He married the love of his life in 1966 and spent 50 happy years with her. He was very proud of his grandchildren, who brought him much joy.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Davis; his brother, Toby Dewberry; and his son, John Preston Davis.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his mother, Gracalie; his children, Heather Baldwin, Jay Davis (Ashley), Sara Mateyka (Eddie), Tad Davis (Juliya), Amanda Pond (Brad), Lisa Eltringham (Ryan) and Christie Nase (Bill); his brothers and sisters, Ellen Cassidy (Dick), Lee Davis (Heidi), Albert Davis, Molly Davis, Phillip Davis (Debbie), Grace Ann Shepherd, Jennifer Stohrer (Steve) and Leroy Davis (Bridget); 19 grandchildren, Caroline, Jack, Hunter, Jade, Maddy, Toby, Sydney, Kylie, Tyler, Bailey, Rylie, Savannah, Jordan, Ramsie, Davis, Bennett, Nora, Penelope and Brady; and a large extended family and many good friends.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 5, 2016, at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, with a reception following in the church social hall. Interment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park.
