Benjamin A. Roy, 76, of Norfolk, Va., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016.
He was the son of the late Jose and Maria Roy of the Phillippines.
Benjamin was a faithful Christian, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He retired following 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy. His hobbies were barbecuing for family parties, driving fast cars and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Simplacio, Cegerardo, Prudencio,, Genaro, Leodegario and Herminigildo; and sister, Milagros.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma Roy; his son, Paul Roy (Barbara); his grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Roy, Courtney Stipa (David), Christopher Roy and Caroline Roy; a sister, Adelaida; his mother-in-law, Felicitas Madera; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Virgilio and Esper Madera, Manny and Debbie Madera, Zenaida and Ron Campos, George and Nennette Madera, Gloria and Julius Crescines; and many nieces, nephews, friends and shipmates who loved him very much.
Viewing will be from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk, Va.. A Holy Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Miner Road, Suffolk, Va.
