Joseph R. Burke, 84, of Virginia Beach, Va., died July 19, 2016.

He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, born on June 13, 1932, to Michael Burke and Anges (Hughes) Burke.

Joe attended Ohio University, Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) and American University. He was a member of the New England Appraisers Association, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and in 1982 he co-founded the Tidewater Antiques Art Association with his late wife, Dolores A. Burke. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 to February 1955 and was a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his brother, John J. Burke of Atascadero, Calif.; and his five children, Mary Lynn Cordano (Alan), Shaun Hawley (John), Tony Burke (Angie), Vincent Burke (Jacqui) and Chris Burke; and 22 great-nieces and nephews, all of California.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, Va.
