Mary E. Shuffler, 94, peacefully passed into her Father’s arms, surrounded by her loving family, on June 27, 2016.
Born May 19, 1922, in Pawtucket, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Howard R. and Mary T. Fuller.
A graduate of Pawtucket East High School, Mary received an associate’s degree in business from Johnson and Wales Business School. For 28 years, she served the Virginia Beach Public School System as head secretary at Trantwood Elementary School, where she touched many lives with her compassion, kindness and her smile. She retired in 1995.
Retirement never slowed Mary down, as she continued her dedication to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Hartman (Brian) of Oley, Pa.; sons, Joshua, Zachary and Jim (Kendall) of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Ashleigh and Charlotte; and many cherished extended family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of First Colonial Inn, Heartland Hospice Care and Windermere Rehabilitation Center for their sensitive and compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1264 Great Neck Road, North, Virginia Beach, Va. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Church of the Holy Family. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, followed by a reception.
