Romeo Dasalla Soliven, Sr., 77, dedicated Catholic and retired U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016.

Romeo was born in the Phillipines to Lauro C. Soliven and Flora Dasalla. He took great pride in his Filipino heritage, and he carried it with him when he immigrated to America in 1965, settling in Virginia.

Romeo is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Soliven; three sons, Roland Soliven (Maricel), Romeo Soliven Jr. and Richie Soliven; three grandchildren, Romeo Barnett, Brianne Sands and Keilana Soliven; two sisters, Emma Soliven Rameld and Estrella Soliven Azurim; three brothers, Loreto Soliven, Jamie Soliven and Benito Soliven.

A Christian wake service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17, and the viewing from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, both at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, Va. The funeral mass will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, followed by burial with military honors at noon at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
