         Birdie S. Harrison

After retiring from Naval Supply Center in Norfolk in 1987, she became a full-time grandmother, from which she derived much joy and pride. She was a member of Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church; she volunteered at St. Matthew’s School and also alongside her grandson at Airfield 4H Center in Wakefield, Va.

Birdie leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Barry S. Harrison, Kathy Harrison Chapman (Ray), and S. Wesley Harrison; five grandchildren, Chris, Justin, Brandi, Whitney and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends and extended church family. She will be missed by all who knew her, leaving us with the memory of her joy of life, her vivacious personality, her love for family, friends and a life well lived.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Airfield 4H Center, 15189 Airfield Road, Wakefield, Va.
