He graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in electrical engineering and was employed at General Electric his entire career, working for many years as systems engineer at the television plant in Suffolk.

He was a faithful servant of Jesus in churches wherever he lived. He served as a deacon and trustee at Western Branch Baptist in Portsmouth and later as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his father, Meek Graves; mother, Mary Lou Graves; stepmother, Estelle; and brother, Paul.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; sister, Sue Goldman; three married daughters and their husbands, Linda Stout (Michael), Karen Foster (Doug) and Terri Taylor (Stephen); and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family thanks the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for their compassionate care.

After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the mission fund of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, Interserve, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
