Jessie Clifford Minnis Jr., 77, true handyman who could fix it all

Jessie Clifford Minnis Jr., 77, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016. Born in Cleveland, Tenn., he was the son of the late Jessie Clifford Minnis Sr. and Gussie Guinn.

He retired as a chief warrant officer 4 from the U.S. Navy after 25 years of service. He also worked as a government contractor in Washington, D.C. He was a true handyman, and he could fix anything. He was a carpenter, engineer and mechanic. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Sue Minnis; children, Deborah King, Steven Minnis (Toni) and Gregory Minnis; grandchildren, Steven, Justin and Katelyn; great-grandson, Cameron; brother, Richard Harrison; and sister-in-law, Peggy Thompkins.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, July 1, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Mission Ministries.
